MOMONA SCHOOL

THE ANNUAL PICNIC The Momona school children and their parents arid teachers experienced a fine day for the annual picnic, which was held at Momona. A lengthy programme of shorts was run off and a happy time was spent in boating, paddling, and swimming. The teaching staff and cojnmittee spent a busy time with the programme, and the results of the races were as follows: Girls, eight and, nine years: Shirley Morrison 1, Alice Miller 2, Grace Bruce 3. There was a large attendance at the annual concert of the Momon? School, a complete programme being staged by the children, under the direction of Mrs McGregor and Miss Watson. Rene Ford; part song, “ The Sentinel ”; nursery rhymes; Maori song, boys’ action song: play, “ Bushy’s Secret,” junior children; songs. “Whistling Song” and “Momona Fair,” school children; solo, “Grow, Little Mushroom.” Betty Bruce; action song, “The Marigolds,” girls; recitation. Ivan McNeill; Dutch song and dance; play. “The Magic Cap.” senior children: good-night songs. “Aloha Oe” and “Good-night,” school children.

At the close of the concert, the chairman (Mr A. C. Wheeler) congratulated the children and thanked those who had trained them.
