GRAND DUKE VLADIMIR

LOYALTY OF FOLLOWERS DEMONSTRATION IN PARIS PARIS, Dec. 19. Nearly 2000 officers and notables of the Tsarit Court pledged loyalty to the Grand Duke Vladimir as the "Tsar of all the Russias.” Former generals, who are now taxi drivers, and former countesses, who are now domestic servants and saleswomen, cheered the duke’s declaration that “ we must return to our own country.” The duke, interviewed, denied plans to accept the Ukrainian throne under Herr Hitler’s domination.

The Grand Duke Vladimir is the son of the Grand Duke Cyril, who became claimant to the throne on the murder of Nicholas 11. In August, 1922, he proclaimed himself “Guardian of the Vacant Throne of Russia.” Grand Duke Cyril died in France on October 12. The new claimant, Vladimir, was born in 1917, in Finland, when his father was a fugitive in that country.
