CATALONIAN FRONT

XEBEL OFFENSIVE POSTPONED CONSPIRACY DISCOVERED THOUSANDS ARRESTED (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LISBON, Dec. 19. (Received Dec. 20, at 1 a.m.) It has been revealed that a largescale offensive by the rebels on the Catalonian front, scheduled for today, has been postponed owing to floods immobilising eight divisions over a 100-mile front. It has been reported that thousands were arrested and 200 shot after the discovery of a rebel conspiracy to stage a garrison revolt at Segre simultaneously with the offensive. The Daily Telegraph's Paris correspondent reports that an unofficial truce at present exists, the soldiers fraternising and playing football in no man's land. An official truce for the holidays is not likely. There have been numerous reports referring to discontent and mutinies throughout rational Spain, concerning which the News Chronicle's Paris correspondent states that six colonels and other high officials have been arrested at Segovia.
