TOWN HALL DANCE

"PALAIS GLIDE" FEATURED Following quickly on the heels of the popular dance, "The Lambeth Walk," which is being featured in various ballrooms throughout the Dominion to-day, the management of the Town Hall Dance successfully introduced on Saturday night the "Palais Glide." Early in the evening Mr Jack Robinson and Miss Betty Anderson gave a demonstration of the new dance, and during the learners' session which they conducted a large number of dancers quickly mastered the correct movements. The " Palais Glide " differs greatly from other ballroom dances because of the faci that as many as six couples can do it together. Mr Robinson and Miss Anderson were the first to demonstrate the "Lambeth Walk," which is now a regular item at the weekly dance. The early enthusiasm displayed in the "Palais Glide," however, indicates that it. too, will be a regular feature each Saturday evening. When coloured silks are washed for the first time they should be soaked for about an hour in cold water to which a knob of common cooking salt and half a tablespoonful of vinegar have been added. This "sets" th? colour.

Old gas mantles are excellent for polishing spoons. Apply the powder with a slightly damp cloth. Rinse the spoons in boiling water to which a little ammonia has been added. Rub dry with chamois.

To fumigate a room drop vinegar very slowly upon a hot iron shovel.
