SUCCESSFUL SIRES
Statistics compiled from the beginning of the racing season in August to the first week in December show that Hunting Song (for the last six years New Zealand’s most successful sirel again is well in the lead. Hunting Song’s stock have won £5590, whereas the only others who have more than £3OOO credited to them are Beau Pere (£3835), Defoe (£3477) and Vaals (£3127). Defaulter is the biggest winner among the racehorses with £2375 Next comes the New Zealand Cup winner, Arctic King The Grand National Steeplechase winner. Clarion Call, is well up with £ISOO, and is closely followed by the hurdler Erination with £IOOO. As has been the case for years past (says “Carbine”), horses carrying the Clifford livery have done well, and the estate of Sir Charles Clifford leads in the list of owners.
