WRESTLING
STEELE DEFEATS JONATHAN BOUT FULL OF ACTION (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 19. Ray Steele, the American professional wrestler who recently defeated Lofty Blomfield in a match for the championship of Australia and New Zealand, maintained his excellent record when he won a decision over Brother Jonathan at the Town Hall to-night. Each man obtained a fall.' and Steele won on points. Jonathan gained the first fall, in the fourth round. He held his opponent by the hair and felled him several times with jolts before picking him up bodily and slamming him to the mat for a body press. Steele's fall was secured in the sixth round. He feigned grogginess after a succession of jolts, and then suddenly applied his step-over toehold, to which Jonathan submitted. There was plenty of action in the contest, both men exhibiting remarkable speed, Steele being particularly agile.
