OPEN WARFARE

PRIME MINISTER AND PREMIER CANADIAN CROSS-CURRENTS TORONTO, Dec. 16. The Premier of Ontario (Mr Mitchell Hepburn) announced that he is sailing for .Australia shortly after the New Year to study the Commonwealth Bank and social legislation. He will be accompanied by the Minister of Works (Mr Colin Campbell) and Deputy Provincial Treasurer (Mr Chester Walters).

The announcement followed the Premier's vigorous criticism of the financial policy of the Prime Minister (Mr Mackenzie King) as being merely drifting. Mr Hepourn demands the immediate refunding of the National Debt, predicting bankruptcy in three years if this is not done. He declares that Australia is reported to have found a real solution, and he is going over there to find out whether that is so. The visit is regarded as another step in the open warfare between Mr Hepburn and the Prime Minister, which crystallised in Mr Hepburn's declaration that the Prime Minister was unable to lead the party in a solution of economic problems.
