MR A. T. BOTHAMLEY
(Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec 17. The death is announced of Mr A. T Bothamley, 1.5.0., for 45 years an outstanding figure in the parliamentary life of New Zealand, and Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod from 1892 to 1937 Mr Bothamley, who was 92 years ol age, was born in Surrey, and was the son of a solicitor. He came out to
Australia in 1868, and arrived in New Zealand the following year, and was first employed in the Legislative Council. He was assistant editor of the New Zealand Institute from 1869 to 1902. He also edited many Government scientific papers, the journal of the Australasian Association, and the first Handbook of New Zealand. H« received the 1.5.0. in 1924. News has been received of the death in London on Thursday afternoon, after a brief illness, of Lady Herdman. wif- of Sir Alexander Herdman, formerly judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand.
