MORAY PLACE CONGREGATIONALISTS
CHRISTMAS MUSIC SERVICE During the service at the Moray Place Congregational Church last night a recital of Christmas music was given by an augmented choir and soloists. The service, which was conducted by Dr J. D Salmond was well supported. Three new carols given were of special interest —" Lacking Samite and Sable." in which the words of May Probin are set to music by the Dunedin composer Mary Martin; the carol fantasia. " Christmas Day'' (Hoist) containing four carols ingeniously blended; and "Our Lady's Secret" (Rathbone). Two choruses from Handel's "Messiah" were rendered, and a quartet presented the old " Coventry Carol." The solos were: " Behold and See," "But Thou Didst Not Leave" ("Messiah"). Mr Rowland Dunbar: "The Holy Child'" (Easthope Martin) Miss Agnes Guy; " But Who May Abide" ("Messiah") Mr Donald Munro: "A Star" (del Riego). Master Bruce Grav: "Nazareth" (Gounod) Mr J. D McKechnie; and "Silent Night" (traditional). Misses L. and P. Thorn. The music was directed by the organist and choirmaster. Mrs H. C. Campbell.
