SCOITISH PHOTOGRAPHIC SALON

EXHIBITION IN APRIL Kilmarnock is to be the scene of the thirty-first salon of the Scottish Photographic Federation during the Easter holidays of 1939. Lord Howard de Walden, K.8.E., honorary president of the Howard de Walden Photographic Club, whose members have already overtaken much of the preliminary work, will open the salon in the Technical College of Kilmarnock on Saturday, April 8, 1939. The Provost of Kilmarnock, Mr George H. Wilson, is the honorary president of the salon. With accommodation for up to 700 prints, the Howard de Walden Club is working to secure a record entry in the open section from workers in the rest of the British Isles and in foreign countries, as well as from Scottish photographers for the national section. Because of the interest in lantern slides of the Howard de Walden Club, which holds the 1938 federation awards for the best individual and club entries in the competition far slides in natural colours, arrangements are being made for a specially effective display of monochrome and natural colour slides. For the first time slides two inch (five centimetres) square will be accepted, and these will add strength and interest to what is becoming an outstanding feature of the Scottish salons.
