THE FLOUR TAX REDUCED TREASURER'S ANNOUNCEMENT SYDNEY, Dec. 16. The Federal Treasurer, Mr R. G. Casey, has anounced. in accordance with the Advisory Committee's recommendation, that the flour tax will be reduced by 7s 6d to £5 7s 6d a ton as from to-day. The Flour Millers' Association also announced a reduction of 7s 6d a ton, bringing the wholesale price, inclusive of tax, from £l3 5s to £l2 10s a ton. The Master Bakers stated that the price of bread would not be changed. CENTENARIAN'S DEATH BRISBANE, Dec. 16. The death has occurred of Mr Charles Longden, aged 105, believed to be the oldest Crimean War veteran in the world, and the only Crimean veteran in Australia.
