CHRISTMAS GIFT

£12,000 FOR DISTRIBUTION GRANT FROM ART UNION FUNDS ALLOCATION FOR PHILANTHROPIC PURPOSES (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 8. The sum of £12,000 from art union funds is being allocated by the Government as a Christmas gift to a number of philanthropic and kindred institutions in New Zealand. The money which forms the grants comes from the accumulated surplus profits of the £SOOO alluvial gold art unions conducted during the year. The practice has been for some time to -dlocate £SOOO after the drawing of each art union to the various mayoral relief funds of the Dominion.
