SOCIAL SECURITY ACT
EFFECT ON HOSPITAL RATE CONSIDERABLE INCREASE FEARED (Per United Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Nov. 3. Concern at the possibility of a considerable increase in the hospital rate as a result of the operations of the Social Security Act is felt by local bodies in Southland. At a conference to-day the following resolution was carried: — “ That this meeting is satisfied there is every indication of a very considerable increase in hospital expenditure as the result of the operation of the Socid Security Act, and that -the Government should be asked to indicate its proposed nroportion of the contribution.” Six representatives of local bodies were deputed to forward to the ratepayers particulars of the estimated amounts required to avoid increased rating.
