Obituary Mr A. A. C. Lion, Presbyterian home missionary, whoso death occurred recently in the Ashburton Hospital, was well known in South Canterbury and Southland, where he served as a missionary before proceeding to take up missionary work in the North Island. Mr Lion was trained in the Bible Training Institute at Glasgow and came to New Zealand just prior to the outbreak of war. After being accepted by the Missions Committee of the Presbyterian Church. Mr Lion served for over five years on the Orari mission station, which is connected with Trinity Presbyterian Church, Temuka. Subsequently he served the church as a missionary at Patea and Pongaroa, and at Tuatapere and Hedgehope in Southland, and at Springburn in the Ashburton district. Mr Lion took an active interest in all organisations for the welfare of the district in which he resided. While at Tuatapere he was instrumental in starting a horticultural show, which has since made good headway. Inspector Transferred Mr W. J. Tait, who has been traffic inspector to the Kaiapoi Borough Council for the past seven years, has been appointed to succeed Mr W. R. Ashwell as traffic inspector at Temuka under the Transport Department.
