Lawn Tennis The first lawn tennis match on the Clyde courts was played on Saturday against Hawea, the Clyde team having an easy win. Results (Clyde names first):— Men’s Singles.—R. Stevens 9, F. Stevens 2, Mrs Barltrop 7; Miss D. Clarke 1, Miss Wheeler 2. Men’s Doubles.—Stevens and Templer 9, Allison and Barltrop 5; Ross Wilson 9, Hunt and Kane 4. Totals: Clyde, 12 sets; Hawea, 4 sets. The Weather Another warm rain commenced on Monday evening, continuing well on into Tuesday, with intermittent showers during the afternoon. The ground has now had a good soaking, and growth is abundant. During October over two inches of rain have been recorded, as against .09 inches for the same month last year. Card Evening A card evening was neld in the bowling pavilion on Monday night. Prizes presented by Mrs E, C. Wood and Mr W. Hewitson were won by Mrs R. N. Paulin and Mr L. Fountain, sen.
