THE MOTOR INDUSTRY
PROGRESS IN BRITAIN THIRTY-SECOND SHOW OPENED (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Oct. 13. (Received Oct. 14, at 5.5 p.m.) Opening the thirty-s ocond nptor show at Earlscourt, the Duke of Kent referred to the steady growth of industry over the past decades and said the motor industry, like most others in all courMes, had during the past year suffered by a recession in sales, due almost entirely to the unsettled state of international affairs. He thought there was no doubt that with a return of confidence there would be a resumption of general buying. On a tour of inspection, on which he was accompanied by Dr E. L. Burgin, the Duke showed tha + he had been impressed by many improvements in this year’s models of British cars. The total value of the exhibits was over £500,000. Exhibitors already report large orders.
