ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
BODY FOUND ON RAILWAY DEATH OF TOWN CLERK (Per’United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 7. The mutilated body of Mr Seymour Stanley Maxton Bish, town clerk of Pukekohe, was found about a quarter of a mile north of the Pukekohe station this morning. After the 9.40 Pukekohe-Auckland train had passed, Public Works employees engaged on the line in duplication work saw a body being rolled under carriages for 30 yards. No one saw the deceased fall from the train. The police recovered the body and a search of the clothing disclosed the man’s identity. For some months the deceased had not enjoyed good health. He was On sick leave and a return train ticket to Auckland was found on the body. BOY SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES (Per United Press Association) FOXTON, Sept. 7. Len Eagle, aged 12, of Foxton, who was injured by a car when indulging in a training run for a boxing tournament last evening, died in the hospital. REMAINS IDENTIFIED (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 7. At an inquest to-day a verdict was returned that the parts of a human body washed up at Oterongu Bay, near Terawhiti, on August 2, were the remains of Herbert Langman Oliver, aged 49, who had been missing since April 19. MARRIED WOMAN’S DEATH BODY FOUND IN GARDEN Beatrice Perry Devaney, a married woman, aged 50 years, who resided at 510 Main South road, Cayersham, was found dead in the garden at her residence at 4,40 p.m. yesterday. The deceased, whose husband had been working in the Gimmerburn district, had been living with a niece in Tainui road, and yesterday she visited her home to attend to the garden. She was seen by e neighbour about 3 p.m. when she appeared to be in good health but later she was found lying in the garden. Dr S. B. Strain was summoned but could only pronounce life to be extinct.
