“THE INSECT PLAY”
The Drama Group of the Dunedin Left Book Club gave a second performance on Saturday night in the Y.W.C.A. of "The Insect Play" by the brothers Capek. This picturesque and satirical representation of certain aspects of human life and society is one of the most interesting theatrical experiments attempted by local amateurs, and was greatly enjoyed by fair houses on both Friday ' and Saturday. The play vas produced by Dr Findlay and presented by a large cast, the general standard of performance of which was highly commendable, considering the numerous problems presented by the unusual content of the play and the grotesqueries of costume and movement which it contains. The stage settings, devised and executed by Mr Rodney Kennedy, were strikingly appropriate.
