THE INSECT PLAY
The production of Capek's Insect play, by the Left Book Club Drama Group on Friday and Saturday next, will be enhanced by some ingenious sets devised by Rodney Kennedy and Colin McCahan. A deep blue background will be present throughput, but against this' gigantic flowers and .. a magenta-cocktail bar will be placed in the butterfly act. ..In the beetle act . gigantic veined leaves,- dirtily brown, will convey a sinister. impression. In the ant scene red-and black circles, cylinders, and other cal forms will be used. Two. permanent characters, who serve as a chorus; will repose on inclined planes on either side. De Bussy's String Quartet in G minor will provide a musical background. ■ ,
