TOWN HALL DANCE
RANFURLY SHIELD NIGHT The management of the popular weekly Town Hall dance is staging two dances again this week, one tonight, the night of the Ranfurly Shield game Otago v. Hawke's Bay, and the other on Saturday. The music will be supplied by Mr Alexander Swann's band of seven players, assisted by the vocalist Mr James MacFarlane Patrons are reminded that next Saturday night will offer the last opportunity of qualifying for the final of the Town Hall Dance Championship There will be four semi-finals and a final, the date fixed for the latter being October 22. The winner of the final will be sent to Melbourne, all expenses paid, to represent the Town Hall dance in the 1938 Australasian Dancing Championship. Doors will be opened at 7, and early patrons can dance to music supplied by Hogg's Cinetone sound system. There will be late buses. A special invitation has been extended to the members of the Otago and Hawke's Bay football teams, and some of the latter have promised to give items. An invitation is extended to the country giris who are visiting Dunedin.
