OTAGO ASSOCIATION The Management Committee .of the Otago Hockey Association met last evening. Mr T. H. Mu’lholland occupying the chair. VISIT TO SOUTHLAND. Mr C. E. Hubbard, manager of the teams which went to Invercargill on August 20. submitted a report on the trip. The Southland .primary schools team was the best, schoolboys side he had seen. He thought the Second Grade team had been a little unlucky, but in the Senior match Southland had been revealed to be the better team on the day. ’ , -•. . . Mr Hubbard was thanked for his report ’ HATCH CUP MATCH Mr E. D. Brown was appointed umpire for the Hatch Cup match between Otago and Canterbury to be played at Dunedin on Saturday Mr D. Pilling was appointed manager of the Otago team. • . SOUTH CANTERBURY VISIT Mr H. Sew Hoy ano Mr A. Chapman were appointed umpires for the Senior and Junior games respectively against South Canterbury on Saturday. .Mr A. C. Barnes was appointed manager of the Otago teams and Mr E. D. Emergencies: C. Cfiirnside (Technical Old Boys), C. Gray (H. 5.0.8.). GAMES WITH EASTERN Mr G. Silver was appointed to accompany the Otago teams to Gore on Satuiday as an umpire, and Mr B. Felton was appointed manager. It was decided that the Otago teams should play in White. Arrangements were made for the teams to travel by bus, leaving Dunedin at 10 a.m. SENIOR COMPETITION The Senior Competition was declared closed, University A being declared winners. A suggestion that the two top teams should play off again, each having beaten the other in the first two rounds, was not adopted, a member remarking that it would not be fair to commence a round when it could not be completed. An unofficial meeting between the two teams was arranged for September 24. ■ INTERCLUB GAMES High School Old Boys Club was given permission to send senior and jiAnior teams to Invercargill on September 17. The Wellington Association wrote asking Otago to send a representative team there on September 3 or September 10.—It was reported that a reply had been sent explaining that no such match could be arranged for this season.
