OFFICIAL FORECAST UNSETTLED OUTLOOK The following is the official weather forecast;— Pressure is still high at the Chatham Islands and low over the Tasman Sea and the New Zealand area, especially to the south. Over Eastern Australia it is rising fast. Indications are for:— Winds. —North-east to north-west, mainly moderate but strong at times in most districts, changing to southerlies in the south during to-morrow afternoon. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Moderate at first south of Farewell Spit and in the far south, otherwise rather rough to rough. Eastern Tasman Sea; Moderate to strong north-west to westerly winds but a change to south-westerlies advancing from the west: seas rather rough to rough. Weather.—Still unsettled with variable but mainly overcast skies and in places mist or fog; intermittent but fairly general rain probable with some heavy falls, especially in northern and western areas; temperatures mild. WEATHER IN DUNEDIN The barometer continued to fall yesterday until it registered 29.32 inches at midnight. Cloudy conditions during the morning were followed by steady rain in the afternoon, the wind being moderate from the north-east The maximum temperature was 64 degrees. The barometric pressure fell slightly, and the reading at 5 p.m. was 29.26 inches. WELLINGTON, Aug. 29. Following rain during the night, the morning was dull and misty, with a light drizzle. Before noon, however, the rain ceased, and thereafter the sky showed patches of blue. There was a light northerly breeze during the morning, but in the afternoon it freshened mslderably. The maximum temperature was 58.9 degrees. At 3 o’clock to-day the barometer reading was 29.68 inches. CHRISTCHURCH. Aug. 29. The weather was fine to-day, with a high north-east breeze.
