DISCOVERY IN ALASKA
FLIGHT ABOVE MOUNTAINS
NEW YORK, Aug. 22,
Flying along the Saint Elias Range, Alaska, the National GeographicHarvard University expedition led by Bradford Washburn discovered the world’s largest glacier system outside the polar icecaps, The flight revealed that the Bering, Seward and Malaspina Glaciers are connected by a river of ice forming a mass 7000 feet high and over 100 miles long.
