SCHOOL EXAMINATIONS

NEW PLAN SUGGESTED IN BRITAIN . (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, July 1. The opinion of the conference was that school and higher school certificate examinations should be held towards the end of the autumn term, and that the co-operation of the universities should be enlisted in this matter. It was suggested that, m consequence, the educational year of the secondary and elementary schools should be altered to coincide with the calendar year and that, if the academic year at the universities remained as at present, suitable arrangements should be made to meet case of financial hardship involved by the gap between the date of the higher school certificate examination and the date of entry to a university
