SOUTH ISLAND KILLINGS RECORD SOUTHLAND SEASON LOWER SHIPMENTS OF PORK Followin'* heavier killings of lamb in the South Island, figures for the eight months of the current export season no longer show a decrease over last year’s totals. Returns issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board show that whereas Dominion killings were 4139 carcasses lower up to May 15, the difference at the end of May was only 2520 carcasses. Shipments of lamb to the United Kingdom for the season to date are higher by 362,832 carcasses at 6,082,935. Total killings in the South Island this season were 299,443 higher at 4,304,865 carcasses.

Substantial increases are shown in killings of chilled beef, boneless beef and veal, ewe mutton and sundries, but other classes show a decline over the previous season’s, figures.
