BOXING
MONDAY NIGHT’S PROGRAMME 3 Bert Osborne, the light-weight champion of Australia, will make his New Zealand debut on Monday in the Town Hall. Osborne has been brought to New Zealand by the Otago Association. He is a hard boxer, and always has the spectators on their toes. His opponent, Les Adams, of Ashburton, should prove 4n opponent who will extend him to the Utmost. Adams has an excellent professional record, having lost only one bout in two years, and that to Stan Jenkin in Dunedin, when the decision met with a mixed reception. Since that date he has defeated nearly every good welterweight in the country. At Blenheim last Saturday he defeated for the second time Neville Mudgway, the welter-weight champion of New Zealand, Osborne and Adams are well matched, Adams having the advantage of a - couple of inches in height and 41b in weight. The association is showing considerable enterprise in staging the first night of its novice tournament as preliminaries. There have been 32 entries, providing 16 bouts, and the programme will start at 7.17 p.m. Should time permit, the finals of the feather-weight and bantamweight will also be decided. Full particulars are advertised.
