REPORTS OF COMMITTEES The following committee reports will be submitted to the meeting of the City Council on Monday night:— E.P. AND L, COMMITTEE Arrangements have now been completed for the occupation of the three dwellings at Wakari being erected to accommodate the three shift engineers employed at Halfway Bush Sub-station, and the premises will be tenanted by these men on the following conditions:—(a) A rental of 17s 6d per week; fb) electric supply at standard city rates; (c) one engineer to be always on hand to give assistance at the substation when called on in case o* a failure of supply: (d) the shift engineers to give an undertaking, when applying for any renewal of the shut engineers’ award, not to insert any clause which will make it necessary to employ two engineers on each shift at the Halfway Bush Sub-station; (e) that in the event ■of two engineers being employed on each shift at Halfway Bush Sub-station, the whole of the above conditions would then be subject to further review by the council; (f) the tenancy and conditions referred to above to be during the pleasure of the council. The reports of the consulting engineers. Messrs Vickerman and Lancaster, on the progress of work at Waipon for the periods ended May 21 and 28 show that during the periods the contractors had three men employed The pipes for the No. 6 branch have been placed and the pipes welded. GENERAL COMMITTEE The owners of four buildings, two in Bay View road, one in High street, and one in Arthur street, have been served with notice requiring them to take down and remove the buildings within a period of 30 days WORKS COMMITTEE The Works Committee will recommend that a plan prepared by the city engineer and showing proposed house numbering for Newington avenue. Hamel street, and Burwood avenue be approved There is no record of any previous authorisation for the numbering of these streets, and the present proposal will allocate house numbers tor all existing and prospective subdivisions. Authority has been granted the city engineer to proceed with the laying of five chains of 41n class D water main in Patmos avenue, at an estimated cost of £lO5, and chargeable to the extensions vote This extension i.s necessary to cprvp p new sub-division
