Mrs W. O. McKellar gave a small morning tea party at the Otago Women’s Club on .Thursday in honour of Mrs P. R. M. Hanna, of Wellington.

A particularly successful “ hard up ” party and dance was extended to the officers and men of the Otago division, R.N.V.R., and their friends by the commanding officer (Commander F. Fraser) and Mrs Fraser on Wednesday last. About 150 were present The “ rig-outs ” were many, varied, weird, wonderful and humorous, and the enjoyment in the general relaxation reached a crescendo by the arrival of a “ mock wedding group ” , and the “ take-off ” \ marriage of Miss Ruby “ Robbemall ” (Robinson) and Lieutenant Allen “Jingle-Bell” (Bell), which was performed by the '* most awful honourable padre," J. N. “All-In ” (Allan). The bride carried a vegetable bouquet and wore a head-dress and veil of lace curtain which defies description; whilst the dress of the bridegroom also was past belief. Later an excellent supper in real “ hard up ” style was provided, after which the fun continued till midnight. Lieuten-ant-commander P. G. Connolly, on behalf of all present, thanked Commander and Mrs Fraser for their hospitality, and the evening closed with “Auld Lang Syne.” followed by the National Anthem.

Mr Vincent Hethenngton was oest man and the bridegroom’s brother, Mr Munro Walker, was groomsman. The ushers were Messrs Colin Clark (Maheno) and Alan Ross (Timaru).

The reception was held at the Bay rooms, where Mrs Sidey received the guests wearing a smart costume of navy blue pin-striped cloth, worn with an oyster shaded blouse and navy blue velour hat. She had a spray of dark red roses in her fox furs. Mrs Walker (the bridegroom’s mother) wore a black ensemble of boucle cloth, black fur felt hat and a shoulder spray of pink roses.
