BRAVE POLICEMAN
ORDEAL IN ICY WATER : For the part he played in the rescue of a woman from the■ River Usk last January, Police Constable Ronald C. Herrera, of the Newport Monmouthshire Police, a former Welsh Rugby international forward, has beeir presented with the ' parchment of the Royal Humane Society. He was lowered 40ft by means of a rope from a wharf, and for 40 minutes was in icy water up to his waist assisting the woman and a man named Sidney George Perrott, of the s.s. Beltoi. who had gone to her rescue. . , . , Both Perrott and the woman • were ir a thoroughly 1 exhausted condition.:
