Correspondence was received from the Pan-Paciflc Women’s Association. announcing that Miss Elsie Andrews,! M 8.E., Would Visit Dunedin at the end of July to make preliminary arrangements for the fifth conference of the Pan-Pacific Women’s Association, which will be held in Wellington m 1940. This would be the first women s international conference held m New Zealand, A letter was also received from the Women’s Centennial Committee. regarding the history of the y.W.CA. in Dunedin to be included in the Women’s Centennial Booklet. The hostel report, showing that 8] residents and 70 transient boarders had been accommodated during .May and 12 had been unable to obtain accommodation owing to lack of room. Two talks on nursing had been given to the girls by Miss Torrance, these being much enjoyed. The senior activities secretary reported that steady progress was being made in the clubs, each having an increasing membership. Dressmaking classes were being organised, and a nursing club had been formed. . A series of talks on interior decoration and on international affairs were being firr3ti§€d. The Girl Citizens’ report stated that members had taken part in the “ Health Is Happiness ” pageant. Miss Nancy Hanlon had been re-elected chief citizen. The house and cafeteria chairman stated that the cafeteria and lounge were being well patronised, and that use had been made of the committee rooms by other societies. ■ The report of the Health and Recreation Department showed that the activities of this department were in full swing. About 400 girls took part in the pageant presented to the convention delegates. It was proposed to arrange a sports tournament as one of the jubilee functions, and invite teams .from Timaru and Christchurch to take Pa The membership report stated that two members had died recently.
