Mr C. H. Wing, Metropolitan Commissioner for the Boy Scouts, left by the express • yesterday for Wellington to attend the Dominion Executive meeting.

The Union Airways liner Kotuku left the Taieri airport at 8.15 yesterday morning for Christchurch, Blenheim and Palmerston North with Mr W. Tuck for Christchurch and Mrs D. Finnigan for Palmerston North. The inbound liner Korimako arrived at 2.45 p.m. from the north with Mr and Mrs A. Sayer, Mrs E. B. Nelson and Mrs J. T. Meredith from Palmerston North. Mr C. Milner from Nelson, and Messrs T. C. Gilmour and J. Jennings from Christchurch.

The city organist (Dr V. E. Galway) has been granted leave of absence on full pay by the Finance Committee of the City Council to enable him to visit England. The report of the committee to be submitted to the City Council at its meeting on Monday night states that Dr Galway will be absent from the Dominion for a period of six months, leaving on September 15 next. Dr Galway has made arrangements for the fortnightly organ recitals to be carried out during his absence by two local organists.
