COMMUNITY SINGING
To-morrow the weekly community sing will be held at 12.15 p.m. in the Strand Theatre (by courtesy of FullerHayward). Miss Freda Elmes, who was a member of the cast ol the “Vagabond King,” has consented to assist, and will sing her numbers from the popular opera. Am invitation has been extended to Misses Dorothy Laird and Cathleen Bridger. two women passengers of the Finnish barque Penang which was crippled at sea, and is now at Port Chalmers, Mrs Robertson, of 29 Glen road, has presented a white Samoyed (huskey) pup, three month? old. and this will be sold Another programme of old and new popular numbers is being arranged. Mr H. P. Desmoulins will be the leader, and Mr A. Pettitt will be at the piano. A Green Island listener-in, who is also sending in an iced cake, has requested Mr Harry Marsden to sing an Irish song. Donations of goods for the stall are urgently needed. Proceeds are for the Mayor’s Relief of Distress Fund
