need for early revision POSITION OF ASHBURTON ’’ (Per United Press Association) ASHBURTON. June 3. A deputation sisked the Minister of Justice (Mr H. G. R. Mason) for an v amendment of the law to give the people of Ashburton the same measure ' of control over licensing matters as u was enjoyed by the rest of the Dominion. ■' The Minister replied that he felt very strongly that the licensing laws generally required early revision, but he would be quite frank—there was no prospect of attention being given to ■V 4 the question this year. The time between now and the election would be . taken up with a programme of social ' * amelioration, of which the national superannuation scheme was the most ' important. 'He would do his best to have attention given to the matter as soon as possible after the election of the new Parliament. Mr Mason officially opened the new eourthouse.
