OUTRAM TOWN BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING The first monthly meeting of the newly-elected Outram Town Board was held on Wednesday, and was attended by Commissioner Adams, Ashley. Doherty. Graham, and Hughes. Mr J. Doherty, who was elected chairman, in thanking the members for his election, stated that, with cooperation and assistance, he saw no reason why the members of the board should not pull together for the good of the town district. It was decided that the monthly meetings be held on the first Wednesday of each month. Mr H. A. Forbes’s resignation as sexton, dog registrar, and general workman was accepted with regret, and it was decided that applications be called to fill the vacancy. Owing to the wandering stock nuisance. it was decided to approach the local constable in regard to taking action against the offenders. Mr Geary approached the board m regard to alterations to and the rent of the Town Hall—This was held over until a special meeting of the board on Wednesday. An applicatiton from Mr W. S. Henderson for renewal of his slaughterhouse licence was recommended. The certified statement of accounts for the year ending March 31 was received from the Auditor-general. It was decided that application be made to the Department of Labour (employment division) for a subsidy under scheme No. 13 for kerbing and channelling Holyhead street. The clerk was instructed to write to the Taieri Agricultural Society drawing its attention to the terms and conditions on which it had to be given permission to erect their building on the Domain. The estimates for the year ending March 31. 1939, as presented by the clerk were approved for publication. The clerk was instructed to forward reminders to those who were two years in arrears with rates.
