THE OTAGO LAND BOARD
TO THE EDITOR
Sir,—A letter In your to-day’s issue, signed “Farmer’s Son/* complains that since Messrs Adams, Ross, and Stuart have been appointed to the Otago Land Board a complete reversal of policy has taken place. Instead of complaining, I think “Farmer’s Son” should be extremely grateful to these men for preventing him from getting into the clutches of the stock firms. I think their action is a step in the right direction. I do not know if it is the„same all over New Zealand, but I have noticed in Otago that certain people do not talk so glibly about r ‘pushing ’em out” since the Labour Party came into office. I wonder now If any Farmers’ Union official would support “ Farmer’s Son ’’ in his suggestion that the three members should attend the conference to give an explanation of their conduct. If “Farmer’s Son” inquired of anyone of average intelligence he could enlighten him on the matter—viz., that putting unfinancial men on land is - the thin end of the wedge towards land speculation, aggregation, etc., which is a very serious matter for the rising generation. I think “Farmer’s Son” should keep on going to school for a while longer.—l am. etc.. Wool Blind Cocky. North Otago, June 1.
