FARMER’S DEATH FALL FROM A HORSE James Charles Mowat, a farmer, aged 64 years, who resided at Purakanui, died in the Public Hospital on Wednesday after being .admitted on May 27 suffering from injuries said to have been received through a fall from a horse. , . .. „ An inquest was opened at the Hospital yesterday, Mr J. R. Bartholomew. S.M.. sitting as coroner. After evidence of identification had been taken, it was adjourned sine die. A FRACTURED LEG Lewis Johnston, a middle-aged man, who resides at 51 Council street, St. Kilda, was admitted to the Public Hospital at 6.30 p.m. yesterday suffering from a fractured leg. He fell from his bicycle. ELDERLY WOMAN INJURED An elderly woman, Annie Gibb, who resides at 37 Melrose street, Littlebourne, was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital at 2 p.ra. yesterday suffering from concussion, received when she fainted and fell in a departmental store in the city. SHUNTING FATALITY RAILWAY EMPLOYEE KILLED (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH. June 3. James S. Reid, a middle-aged man. who had been employed as train examiner at Springfield for 14 years, was killed last night when he was struck by a rake of trucks which were being shunted at Springfield station. Reid, who was a married man with a family of four children, had been examining a train when he was struck by a rake of trucks being shunted nearby from another train.
