NEW ZEALAND BROADCASTS
Comprehensive arrangements have been made by the National Broadcasting Service to ensure that all those interested in cricket may receive full details of the forthcoming series of test matches between England and Australia. The main station in each centre and 2YC, the auxiliary in Wellington, will broadcast the first portion of play between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the first days of play, and between 9.30 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the succeeding days. The Dominion transmitter, 2YA. will then take oyer a sole broadcast on the running commentaries until 5 a.m. The descriptions will be in the hands of well-known cricketers and broadcasters; those taking part in England include W. A. Oldfield, ex-Austral-ian wicketkeeper, W M. Woodfull and A. E. R. Gilligan, former Australian and English test captains respectively It is also likely that listeners will hear occasionally some of the leading broadcasters in England, such as Howard Marshall and P. G. Fender. In Australia prominent voices will be those of Victor Richardson, former international, M. A. Noble, former test captain, A. L. A’Beckett and L. Darling. Station 2YA will supply brief results each morning following a day s play, at 7 and 8 a.m, on week days and 9 a.m. on Sundays. The other main stations will rebroadcast these results. With regard to the first test, the Dominion station 2YA will carry out rebroadcasts of eye-witness accounts to be given b; W A. Oldfield from 9.35 to 9.50 a.m. on June 11, 9-10 to 9.20 a.m. on June 12, and 9.5 to 9.20 on June 15. These will be recorded and the national stations will link up later in the day for a further presentation of Oldfield’s observations*
