TOUR OF SOUTH ISLAND BY YOUNG FARMERS
TENTATIVE ARRANGEMENTS MADE BY COMMITTEE Tentative arrangements for the tour of the South Island, which is to be made by a party of 50 young farmers from the Bay of Plenty early this month were made by the district executive committee _of Young Farmers’ Clubs at a meeting held at the Agricultural College, Lincoln, recently. The programme drawn up by the committee provides for a trip over the new summit road, a visit to the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, and also a visit to Lincoln College. The party will arrive in Christchurch on June 8. A sub-committee was formed to consider the organising of district stock-judging competitions at the Christchurch Show. After a discussion on the desirability of forming new clubs in the district, it was decided that an effort would be made to form a club at West Melton. The following were appointed delegates to the district council:— Messrs P. V. Bailey, H. G. Stephens, and T. Streeter. Mr J. W. Calder presided.
