INVERCARGILL TRACK WORK

WAITORU IN GOOD FORM (Special to Daily Times) INVERCARGILL, June 2. Very little fast work was carried out on the Invercargill tracks this morning, when the going was again heavy. The poles were out about 30 feet, and half a dozen Dunedin candidates galloped. Waitoru shaded Invadere at the end of seven furlongs in Imin 36sec, the first two in 26 2-ssec, three in 39 4-ssec, the half in 53sec, and the last half in 56 l-ssec. It was a particularly good gallop, as the pair were right on the outside of the track. Waitoru was doing his work comfortably, while Invadere would only have to race as well on Saturday to show up in the novice race. Waitoru has come through his preparation in great style. Johnny shaded Moneyless, with Foxiove and Barley Almond two or three lengths further back, at the end of seven furlongs in Imin 36 l-ssec. Johnny revelled in the going, and he promises to be a hard horse to beat at Wingatui. Moneyless was doing his work comfortably at the finish. Foxlove was having his first fast work for some time. He has made a good recovery from the lameness which troubled him earlier in the week, and if the improvement continues he will take his place at Dunedin. He pulled up well. Barley Almond did not race at all generously. Amelita and Brilliant Boa were exercised on the inside tracks, neither being asked for anything serious. Grey Seal was schooled over a hurdle three times, and gave a good account of himself. He is a likely type to make good at this game. L. J. Ellis will ride Amelita and Foxlove on Saturday, while other engagements include: V. Langford on Trisox and Bally Brit. E. J. Jennings on Gay Boa. A. J. Peart on Black Banner and Quinopal. W. E. Hazlett left this morning with his team—Burwood. Baltruin, Signaller, and Wild Irishman—for Dunedin, while R. E. McLellan, F. W. Ellis, and J. A. Rowland will leave to-mor-row.
