EMPIRE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT COMMENCED MELBOURNE, June 1. Seven of the world’s leading amateur billiards players are competing in the Empire championship, which opened in the Town Hall last night. The New Zealand representative is A. Albertson. The opening game was between the title-holder, Robert Marshall (Australia) and A. M. Burke (South Africa), the scores being: Marshall 862 (including breaks of 115, 144 and 103), in play, and Burke 390, whose best break was 83. The match will be concluded to-night
