NEW RAILCAR

NOW UNDER CONSTRUCTION LARGER AND MORE POWERFUL (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 1. A larger railcar is under construction, and will be on the rails before very long The car is 66 feet long, and is fitted with two 10-litre Diesel engines developing 120 horse-power at 1800 revolutions a minute. The engines are rubber-mounted on bogies, thus removing vibration from the passenger compartment The car can be driven from either end and is thus reversible Also, two cars can be coupled together and controlled by one driver. The car is semi-stream-lined and of steel-welded construction, with an insulated body. The weight is 32 tons, and the maximum speed attainable is 75 miles an hour.
