WEDDINGS
Turnbull —Kemp A very pretty evening wedding was solemnised on Saturday last in the Roxburgh Presbyterian Church, when John W., elder son of Mr and Mrs W. Turnbull, of Dunedin, was married to Mabel Catherine, elder daughter of Mr W. R. Kemp, of Christchurch, and the late Mrs Kemp. The Rev. D. Heggie officiated, and Miss O. Gordon presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming In a gown of magnolia satin worn under a redingote of cream lace, with an Elizabethan collar and three satin bows spaced from neckline to waist. Her flowing embroidered tulle veil fell from a coronet of orange blossom, and
she carried an ivory-covered Bible, with cream satin streamers. Her bridesmaids, Miss Reitta Kemp, of Christchurch (sister of the bride). Miss Olive Moreton, of Dunedin, and Miss Tui Pennell, of Roxburgh, wore taffeta frocks in three shades of cyclamen under redingotes of matching lace, with Elizabethan collars. Silver sprays, taffeta belts with diamente buckles. lace mittens, and silver halo caps were worn, and they carried shower bouquets of arum lilies and maidenhair fern. Little Anne Morrow, of Ettrick. made a pretty flower girl in green satin worn under a green net redingote. the skirt of which was frilled from waist to hemline. The sleeves and neck were edged with rosebud trimming, and a basket of flowers was carried, After the ceremony the flower girl presented the bride with a silver horseshoe. During the’signing of the register Miss Tui Pennell rendered the solo ‘My Prayer.” The bridegroom was attended by Mr Winstone Reid, of Dunedin, while Mr Richard Turner, of Ettrick. and Mr J. Elliot, of Dunedin, acted as groomsmen. The ushers were Mr Bert Bloxham and Mr Les Jordan.
A reception was held in the Municipal Hall, where 109 guests were received by Miss M. Haughton (the bride’s aunt). She wore a frock of black floral crepe de chine and black georgette, and carried a bouquet of red roses and chrysanthemums Assisting her was Mrs Reilly, of Dunedin, gowned in a navy floral frock and musquash coal. She carried a bouquet of bronze chrysanthemums.
The reception was followed by a dance.
Later, Mr and Mrs Turnbull left by car on their honeymoon, the bridf wearing a smart navy blue pin-stripe costume with accessories to match and carrying a musquash fur coat. Their future homo will be in Dunedin,
