BANKRUPT PEER
BUSINESS IN PARIS COMMISSION AGENCY LONDON. May 16. The Earl of Halsbury, K.C., aged 57, has set up in business in Paris as a commission agent. Bankruptcy proceedings were recently instituted against him in London. When Lord Halsbury was interviewed by a special correspondent of the Daily Mail in Paris he said;— “ I did not attend the bankruptcy proceedings in London because I did not know of them. I had no idea that I had been adjudged bankrupt until just now, when I received a letter from a club advising me that I was no longer a member. J -‘, “My business is arranging British and Continental contracts. I have secured 11 orders in six weeks, and I am confident that I will be able to repay my creditors in full. “ I propose to stay in business. As a lawyer for 30 years, I had enough of others’ troubles. As a business man I will have a few of my own.”
