The Royal National Lifeboat Institution has appointed Sir F. Vernon Thomson one of its honorary life governors. He has for many years taken the principal part in the annual appeal to the members of the Baltic Shipping Exchange on behalf of the lifeboat service. Stray dogs in Trinidad are in future to be caught throughout the year and destroyed in a lethal chamber instead of being shot, during a special campaign lasting for one month every year. The change is due largely to the representations made by the R.S.P.C.A. in Trinidad.
