AUSTRALIAN TRADER SOLI) At one time • regular trader to Australia, the twin-screw refrigerated steamer Martand, ■ owned by Thomas and John Brocklebank, Ltd., t-of Liverpool, has been sold to foreign buyers. A vessel of 8143 tons gross, she was built in 1912 by Workman, Clark and Co., Belfast. As the Hawke's Bay. she was a unit of me Tyser Line, which in 1911 amalgamated with several other British lines to form the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, now knov,'n as the Port Line. The ship was renamed the I'ort Napier, and under this name was a regular trader to Australia for many years ■until disposed of to the Brocklebank Lina.

TANKER BRAMORA With petrol for the Texas Oil Company, the Norwegian motor tanker is due hero to-morrow night to complete discharge. TURAKINA REPORTS The New Zealand Shipping Company has received a radio message from the steamer Turakina, which left Liverpool on April 23, saying she now expects to reach Auckland at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, a day earlier than she was previously expected. She brings cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin, and Is expected at Dunedin about June 21. NOTICE TO MARINERS The Marine Department publishes the following Information about rocks and shoals off Mercury Islands and adjacent coast from soundings made by H.M.S. Endeavour. Rocks and shoals off Mercury Islands are given In the following positions:—Rock, 3 fathoms 2ft, 151 dog 4.24 miles from the summit of Red Mercury Island. Rocky shoal. 9 fathoms 3ft, 137 deg, 2.75 miles from the summit. Rock, 5 fathoms 2ft, 138 deg, 2.10 miles from the summit. Rock. 4 fathoms sft, 192 deg, 1.C2 miles from north-western extremity of Great Mercury Island. The rock awash charted two miles eastward of Kennedy Bay exists In a position 230 deg, 0.6 miles from Its charted position. A rocky shoal has been charted 5 fathoms OSGJdog, 0.75 miles from the southern extremity of Walkawau Bay. Cuvier Island light, latitude SGdeg 2G.Bmln south; longitude, 175 deg 47.4 min east (approximately) Is charted approximately half a mile too far to the south-eastward. BLUE FUNNEL LINE The Sydney agents of the Blue Funnel Line state that the vessels employed In the Eng-land-South Afrlca-Australla mall service are being modernised In the light of the latest trends In marine Interior architecture. The Blue Funnel Line’s passenger vessels were specially built for the Australian trade before the war, and carry saloon passengers only. The vessels to be altered are the Anchlses, Ascanlus, Nestor and Ulysses. The whole of the passenger accommodation will be remodelled, cabins being enlarged and fitted with beds Instead of berths, and Pullman berths will be Installed, thus allowing passengers to convert them Into two or three-bed cabins If required. The alterations will further add to tho reputation for comfort that the Blue Funnel Line has enjoyed since Its Inception.
