THE PORT OF OTAGO

THE CITY OF MOBILE To complete discharge of her New York cargo the A. and A. Line steamer City of Mobile Is now due here on Tuesday. She Is to sail the following day for Sydney to load. TEKOA DELAYED Delayed by rain at Bluff, the Tekoa Is now expected here on Tuesday to continue Homeward loading. It Is proposed to despatch her about Thursday for Lyttelton, Wellington and Auckland to complete. HORORATA IN BALLAST Cabled advice has been received that the Now Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Hororata left Liverpool on May 21 in ballast for Bluff, where she Is due on June 24 to commence her Homeward loading. ZEALANDIC LEAVES LONDON The Shaw Savlll Company has received cabled advice that Us motor ship Zealandlc left London on May 21 for Suva, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, Tlmaru and Nelson. She Is duo at Lyttelton on July 4, and at Dunedin on July 7. PORT HARDY AT PANAMA The Port Line has had cabled advice that the Port Hardy, outward bound from Liverpool, cleared Balboa on Monday morning. She Is due at Auckland on June 13, and at Wellington on June 20, afterwards finishing unloading at Lyttelton, Dunedin and Tlmaru. MIDDLESEX ARRIVES HOME The Federal steamer Middlesex, which left Auckland on April 15, Is reported by cable to have reached London last Sunday afternoon. ESSEX OUTBOUND The Federal Company has received cabled advice that the steamer Essex left Liverpool last Saturday with cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers and Now Plymouth. She Is due at Auckland on June 23, and at Dunedin about July 16. CARGO FROM HALIFAX The Port Line has received a radio message from the M.-A.-N.Z. Line motor ship Fort Montreal, which left Halifax on April 21. saying that she expects to reach Auckland on Sunday afternoon. She has cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin, and will reach Dunedin about June 14. WORLD’S LARGEST LINER A royal christening will be given to the new Cunard-Whlto Star liner now under construction on the Clyde. The Melbourne agents recently received cabled advice from London that the King and Queen had consented to tho company using the name Queen Elizabeth for the new ship. Their Majesties will make a special trip from Balmoral Castle to the shipyards of John Brown and Co., Ltd., Clydebank, on September 27, to attend tho launching ceremony. Tho Queen will christen the ship, which at present la known as " No. 552.” Although the actual size of the Queen Elizabeth will not be known until after she has taken the water, It Is certain that she will be larger than both the Queen Mary (81,235 tons) and the Normandie (83,423 tons), and will thus be the largest ship ever built. The advice received slates that the ship will be commissioned for the Atlantic ferry service early In 1940, which will coincide with the centenary of the Cunard Line. The Queen Elizabeth will be the 134th liner owned by the company.
