Holding the opinion that the appointment of women to the school inspectorate was long overdue, the conference of the New Zealand Educational Institute decided to urge the Minister of Education (Mr P. Fraser' 1 to appoint at least one woman inspector to each education board as one of the first items in his programme of reorganisation. One delegate remarked that, although the women of his branch all wished to be inspectors, none wanted to be inspected by women. “They said that a woman can see through a woman quicker than a man.” he added amidst laughter.
