WRESTLING
TO-NIGHT’S CONTEST The first meeting of two leading members of this year’s wrestling team will take place to-night, when Pat Meehan will wrestle Jack Kennedy at the Town Hall. This will be Kennedy’s first Dunedin appearance, but he is well known to wrestling enthusiasts through the contests in which he has been engaged elsewhere in New Zealand. Kennedy is popular with American
wrestling audiences because of the unexpectedness of his methods. He is one of the few who hold a victory over Yvon Robert, the French Canadian, and others he has defeated are Stanley Pinto, Abe Coleman, and Gino Garivaldi. Pat Meehan needs no introduction to Dunedin. In his appearance here against Blomfield he proved himself all that a wrestler should be. Meehan gives every indication of developing into another McCready, and his career in New Zealand will be watched with interest. Meehan is so far undefeated this season and Kennedy, although he has been penalised, has not lost a match on falls. Further particulars are advertised. BLOMFIELD BEATS McKAY
(Per United Press Association) MASTERTON, May 13. In a match last night. Blomfield beat McKay by two falls to one. McKay secured a fall in the third round and Blomfield in the sixth and seventh.
