The shortage of rolling stock for the conveyance of manures was discussed at a recent meeting of the Waikato Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, when it was decided that representations should be made to the Railways Department, A letter on the subject was received from the Te Awamutu branch of the union. The letter asked that a suggestion should be made to the Railways Department that another cruising engine should be placed on the line between Frankton and Te Kuiti so that empty trucks could be collected more quickly. Mr W. Neill, of Te Awamutu, said that in a number of instances the delivery of goods and manures was about a month behind schedule because of the shortage of railway trucks.
