Owing to an outbreak of scarlatina, the Amberley House Girls’ Collegiate School has been isolated for a week. Two pupils were removed to hospital in Christchurch the day before the school was to break up for the term holidays, and the school was isolated from the following day. A visit was paid to the school by a Health Department inspector, and the medical officer of health (Dr T. Fletcher Telford) later ordered the school to be placed in quarantine until Thursday next. The principal of the school (Miss G. Foy) said on Saturday that no moi’e j cases had appeared, and the out- > break appeared to be under control.
